Costeño Tagua Charm

Sale price$28

Hand carved from tagua, also known as vegetable ivory, this piece is shaped from the seed of a palm native to the coastal regions of Ecuador. Once fallen, the seed is collected, dried over time, and carefully carved and polished by hand, revealing its natural grain and depth.

This piece, Costeño, takes its name from the coastal origin of the material and the culture surrounding it. Each figure is assembled from individually carved elements and finished with a tiny hat woven from toquilla straw, a fiber deeply rooted in the same region.

More than a charm, these small costeños are conceived as companions. Designed to travel with you, they carry the spirit of the coast as they move through places and stories alongside their wearer.
